Photoshop and jewellery
The vast majority of accounts I follow on Instagram are artists and makers who mainly share the products they create, instead of perfect homes, they show their messy studios and the body image is often reduced to dirty hands. In this sense, Instagram is a brilliant medium that allows us to connect and follow each other’s work.
Offline workshops in Bangor
was lucky enough to participate in two very cool events in Bangor last week that really got the jewellery making out in the world. I can still feel the energy of the buzzing workshop and can't wait to repeat the experience.
Stone setting workshop
I have been thinking a lot about the next jewellery-making workshop project and I would say that from all the potential ideas, stone setting won on all fronts! Very few things are more satisfying than being able to transform a piece of stone or a crystal into a piece of jewellery.
Three of those days
You know when you have “one of those days” when nothing really goes according to plan, your work is slow, maybe filled with distractions, you keep making mistakes and just simply nothing goes well? So that’s my last three days in a nutshell.
Why am I doing this?
What is the alternative we have and how do we carve a space for us that allows us to live the life we want? A few thoughts about delayed life and neoliberal society and my way to deal with it in this moment.
One step back
I didn’t think this will happen, but after giving it a really good thought, I decided to reopen my old and neglected Etsy shop.
Getting back
The last thing I made before I got “the plague” was this little rune. It is a small project that I’ve decided to dive into which follows the fantastic idea born within @heathen_women_united to declare this year the Year of Unn and follow each month with healing rituals and learnings that celebrate the end of the octagonal cycle.
Change of pace…
Changing things a little to keep the fun and enjoyment in the process… I think layering and combining things needs to make a comeback into our lives!
The mind game
The nice thing about jewellery making is, that sometimes I can completely switch off and just let my hands work and my mind wander. Though it might not be the most exciting thing to do, it is a part of the process and feels very therapeutical…
In the middle
I’m feeling all the symptoms of being right in the middle of a project. It is not quite as new and exciting as it was just a week ago and it doesn’t look like it will be finished soon. As I work on all the pieces at once, I’m currently stuck in “the ugly phase” for all of them.
Roller coaster
The ups and downs of having a creative business as a solo parent include sleepless nights filled with excitement and panic. The best thing one can do in days like these, is to make something. Finally started cutting out silver.
Resting days
This is an ode to taking a day off. Like a proper one, spent with minimum imputs, dedicated to rest. And then getting back up and continuing whatever work we need to do.
Trials and errors
Waiting for the silver delivery, I was experimenting further with the hammered piece of silver. So many decisions to make, and so many changes. Sometimes you don’t know until you try, other times it just clicks. Thinking in silver. That is what it is…
The materials
No coming back, it is finally happening! I have just placed the largest order in the history of my account. Fine silver, Sterling silver, eco silver, all about silver.
The Blank Page
Never share your ideas and plans before they are fully developed. Or not. Let’s just break the rule and see what happens. The blank page is real… The thrill of the journey is overwhelming.
