Hammer
The two main reasons why I love making jewellery are hammers and fire. I’ve actually always wanted to learn blacksmithing before jewellery made an entrance into my life, but for several reasons, one of them being the fact that travelling with a fully equipped forge sounds too heavy, I never really gave it a go (no regrets there). But it surely shows in my personal preference for the type of jewellery and making techniques. From this point, it is pretty unreasonable that I kept my stock of hammers to a minimum. However, this Christmas, I got a new tool and yesterday I finally got a bit of time to try it and needles to say, I’m in love! Though I suspect our neighbours might not be as appreciative…
I think there is a serious danger that I will feel called to hammer and forge everything in the upcoming collection, there might even be a chance that I will need more different hammers in the immediate future. It’s all open, with a beautiful sound of ring-ring-ring- in the background…
Do you have any new projects you are working on? With a new tool maybe?
