About

The exploration.

Landscape jewellery is an exploration of the connection between the matter of land and soul that acts as a catalyst of expression, creativity and joy.

It reflects on the connection between parts of the landscape, the stones, metals, organic materials, elements and also plants, animals, humans and spirits who inhabit certain spaces not only in the present moment, but did so in the past, and will in the future.

Landscape jewellery is like discovering forms and textures that touch the soul for its timelessness and universality. It is made with the humble acknowledgement that certain ideas strive to be discovered and manifested in the material world, yet are coming from a creative place of independent existence filtered through the maker’s mind and hands.

The piece of jewellery you wear works as a continuum of the world that we live in and create.

The explorer

Gabriela started making silver jewellery in 2011 in Copenhagen and what was at first meant to be a pastime and a challenge, turned immediately into a life-long passion.

The major influences of her designs were her interest in ancient history, myths and psychology and their translation into the contemporary world. She has moved across several countries and has always been fascinated by the influence of the environment and culture on people’s minds and vice versa. The diversity of landscapes, the stories that are being told, the aesthetics and the factual world help us to maintain a connection with an almost transcendental quality.

At present, Gabriela is working on her new collection and she runs regular jewellery-making workshops in Boom Studios in Bangor. She also holds a degree in Psychology and is focusing on exploring creativity from this perspective. She also works as a Creativity coach.

Sustainability

Landscape jewellery is committed to high standards of sustainability that reflect respect to nature expressed in its design. It also understands that aspirations imply continuous scope for improvement and are realized in the context of today’s society which comes with its challenges and limitations. Transparency in materials and processes used to produce your jewellery is paramount. If you feel there are any unanswered questions or aspects that remain unattended, please do get in touch here.

Process

Some jewellery making techniques require the use of various chemicals that may be harmful to the environment. Landscape jewellery always looks for the options with the lowest possible impact on the environment and uses alternatives that are safer and require little processing and safe disposal.

Materials

The vast majority of jewellery that can be purchased on this website is made of silver. Silver sourced for this purpose is certified as EcoSilver, 100% recycled and not containing any newly mined metal.

Gemstones are generally very difficult to obtain with absolute certainty of their origin and process of mining and cutting. For this reason, most of the gemstones used in Landscape jewellery are either re-purposed stones or, stones that were mined and cut in the past decades and have not been used yet. Occasionally new stones may be also used. In such cases, I always look for the best possible source with a good reputation. If the origin of the stone is important to you, please get in touch, I will give you as much information on the particular piece as I can.

Foraged materials are generally obtained on my walks along the Northern Irish coast.

Packaging is chosen with sustainability in mind as well. All promotional materials and packaging are recyclable and recycled, supplied as locally as possible.
